22. Fly Basin. Hiding from the weather, diving the boat, and bread making

We hang in Fly Basin for the day due to the forecasted gale. Apart from the wind the weather is nice and it is a pleasant anchorage to stay in - lots of room and good holding.

We do notice however a floating rope (no buoy) attached to something after we anchor - I assume a crab pot. Dang people who don't use sinking ropes on traps! Worried that we might have picked up some rope on the prop I fret about what to do. Before getting on a wet-suit I strap a GoPro onto a boat hook and see if I can use it as a remote camera. The WiFi didn't work once it was in the water so we did a video and then downloaded it to a laptop. Worked pretty well and the approach is a keeper!. Saves having to get wet to view the underside.

The downside is there was something on the prop.

Screen Grab from the GoPro - Dang stuff on the prop! (Actual video looks better)
I suited up and went down to clean it off. - a pain but good to get it sorted before heading out. I also tied a spare float onto the line to save others from running over it.

We then made some bread. This is something we wanted to try - to see if we could get good fresh bread while away. The recipe is apparently fairly famous. New York Time no-knead Bread.
I leave the details out here, but suffice to say it was great. We baked it in our 'Princess' propane oven. A very nice loaf of bread with beautiful crust, and such a success we ended up making bread every few days for the balance of the trip. It is almost decadent to have fresh bread when out away from good shops and/or bakeries. Barely feels like cruising.

Later on a Herron perched on the pulpit and stayed for a while. We had not seen that before.
